Babies, children, blended families, and people embracing a new name or a new chapter can all be celebrated with a Naming Ceremony.
This part of my practice is most definitely not an “add on” but deserves the greatest of care. I can welcome your guests, talk about the person or people being celebrated, perhaps include a community blessing, and maybe you would like to include a reading from a grandparent or close supporter.
You might like to “install” one or two people close to you as “godparents” - perhaps called “special friends” or “life guardians” and do a short ceremony acknowledging their new role. Finally, there can be a lovely conclusion, with appropriate music choices throughout.
